Meet Jay
Founder and Head Trainer, On Purpose Dog Training
I started On Purpose Dog Training because I saw too many dogs struggling. Mainly because they did not have the right foundation. And I saw too many owners frustrated, overwhelmed, and out of answers.
I am a certified professional dog trainer specializing in structured, positive reinforcement programs for puppies, adult dogs without foundations, leash behavior, and fear and anxiety rehabilitation. Every program I run is trainer-led, criteria-driven, and built around a single principle: calm dogs learn faster, retain more, and live better lives.
My approach is rooted in modern behavioral science. I do not use force, fear, or shortcuts. I build programs that install real skills and real emotional regulation — the kind that holds up at home, on walks, and in the real world.
I specialize in working with high-drive working breeds such as, Malinois, Shepherds, Kelpies, Border Collies, Cattle Dogs, etc. These are the dogs that most owners struggle with and were not fully prepared for. I own and train an Australian Kelpie named Bean, so I live this every day. I also work with all breeds, but working breeds are where my deepest expertise lives.
I work with puppy owners who want to start right, adult dog owners who need a real foundation, families dealing with chaotic walks, and owners of dogs who have been told their dog is "just like that." If your dog is struggling, there is usually a reason and a path forward.
Training is personal to me. I believe every dog deserves structure, patience, and a fair chance to succeed. And I believe every owner deserves a clear plan, honest guidance, and a trainer who actually cares about the outcome.
If that sounds like what you are looking for, I would love to work with you.
